Another year in China
Why is it that between the span of two months China decides to block Facebook forever? I could pay for a VPN but then China might decide to block them too. I will stick to what I have been doing and tweet and blog when I feel like it. Which is often but I just never get the chance to sit down and do it.
Another year in China. I get another chance to see a little more of Asia. I still have yet to see the Great Wall of China but I will be flying/railing to Beijing at the end of January to catch my flight to Tokyo. I came over from Toronto to Beijing, too, I already feel closer to the Great Wall, don’t you? Unfortunately, I won’t have time to linger in the city. I don’t even have time to renew my passport at the embassy. I should make time though. I’m going to Tokyo! I’m ready to burn a serious hole in my wallet. Sui, if you read this, e-mail me, I want to meet up but I don’t have your e-mail address and Facebook is blocked behind the Great Firewall of China.
Three weeks of vacation for Chinese New Year. One week in Japan. Two weeks in… ? I have time to decide. I can’t even buy my flight to Beijing yet because it’s so early. I could ride a train over instead, I hate going to Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, it’s such a long drive, the train station is much closer. I don’t think I saw any fast trains to Beijing though, so it will be at least a 10-hour train trip. At least it’s shorter than my flight over from Toronto.
You’re still there? Come visit me! =D
come visit me too…
@Sui:
I wanted to contact you but Facebook is blocked here and I don’t have your e-mail address. :( E-mail me. It’s on my Facebook profile. I’m flying over to Japan in February for my Chinese New Year holiday.
@Will:
Did you move to China already?? Where are you living?
Will be living in Beijing starting the 7th.
also try to find and download freegate to bypass GFC.
November 7th? That’s so soon! Have you found a job over here already? I’m flying to Tokyo through Beijing on January 30th for the Chinese New Year holiday. I haven’t bought my return ticket yet, maybe I can buy a ticket to stop by in Beijing. I need to renew my passport at the Canadian embassy anways. :p Which part of the city will you be in?
No, don’t have a job yet, but I’m going anyway. My apartment will be in chaoyang north of chaoyang park by the 4th ring road.
What kind of job are you going to look for when you’re here?
I tried out that FreeGate thing. I can’t figure out how it works. I didn’t try very hard though. I’ll take another look at it later. Make sure you download it before you get to China. The firewall blocked most of the websites that seed it.
no idea, i was wanting an IT job, anything, software hardware networking but how things are looking now, i’ll take a teaching job.
yup, got it downloaded. try h i d e m y a s s .com see if it works in china.
My friend tutored English in China on her off times. I think teaching is a good option. You gets lots of holidays. :p There’s a lot of Canadian/American schools in China. I wish I remembered the name of the British Columbia school in Shanghai. They pay Canadian teacher salaries in China. Do you know anyone in Beijing?
That website is blocked in China. Go figures.
Nope, don’t know anyone in Beijing. Just going to go and let fate take hold.
Wow, China is so fail. Your blog is banned now or at least inaccessible for the time being. lol
